While each classroom has listed curriculum goals, the philosophy of our program is that each child is unique and will therefore acquire the foundations for learning at his/her own pace. We create the environment/activities, the children will remain challenged and engaged, and WHEN they are developmentally ready to absorb/apply the learning skills, they will.

Learning Goals

Faith Development

  • Learn to worship and honor God
  • Listen to Bible stories to know and love God
  • Introduce children to chapel twice a week
  • Build up children’s faith through God’s word
  • Learn to recite prayers and sing chapel songs

 

Social/Emotional Development

  • Make “play” the foundation of all learning
  • Develop role playing and pretend play
  • Learn to express a variety of feelings with gestures or words
  • Learn to interact with care taker and other adults
  • Manage emotional responses with assistance or independently
  • Engage in simple interactions with other children
  • Build personal independence
  • Develop awareness of others’ feelings
  • Learn to behave according to social expectations

Emergent Cognitive Development

  • Develop understanding of how things work or move
  • Learn to engage in efforts to solve conflicts
  • Able to mimic, imitate and repeat actions as a way of communicating needs/wants
  • Develop the ability to store information and later retrieve it
  • Understand that different amounts are represented by numbers
  • Learn to group, sort, connect and categorize based on the attribute
  • Learn to identify the alphabet by repetitive exposure through a print-rich environment
  • Develop “symbolic” or “pretend play” to understand social roles
  • Grow the ability to exercise control over their attention span
  • Participate in personal care routines

Language Development

  • Understand and carry out one-step requests
  • Use words to tell others about their needs, wants and interests
  • Build up vocabulary to speak in simple sentences (3-4 words)
  • Learn the basic rules of conversational turn-taking when communicating
  • Listen and participate while being read to
  • Grow children’s attention through songs, chants, poems, nursery rhymes and stories
  • Develop interest for the print environment recognizing some letters – starting with the first letter of his/her own name

Perceptual & Motor Development

  • Use the senses to change their interaction with the environment
  • Develop body awareness to start toilet training
  • Learn to move large muscles with basic control and coordination
  • Ability to move the small muscles with one or both hands
  • Learn to walk/run and swing arms for balance
  • Learn awareness of own personal space and their peers’ space

 

Schedule

Time Activity
6:30 – 8:15 am Opening Class – Teacher directed activity, 2 learning centers open (change daily)
8:15 – 8:55 am Outside Play – free choice table toys, trikes, balls, Legos (all students combined)
8:55 – 9:15 am Gathering song/prayer, divide into classrooms Potty/Diapering/Hand washing

*Chapel – held in Sanctuary M/Thur @ 9:15

9:15 – 9:30 am Snack (parent provided)

*Chapel (snack is served after chapel on M&TH)

9:30 – 9:40 am 1st Morning Circle (Introduce Bible stories, songs, letters, shapes, numbers and colors)
9:40 – 10:30 am Learning Centers (Activities will vary)
Manipulatives: puzzles, legos, blocks, dramatic play, numbers, etc…
Fine Motor: Painting with many materials, coloring, pegboard etc…

Sensory & Science: exploration with play-dough, sand, water, measuring, pouring, beans, mixing colors, etc.
Art: self-creative expression based on monthly theme
(i.e. painting, gluing, paper tearing, finger painting, etc…)
10:30 – 11:10 am Outdoor Play – yards will vary                                Bike trail/Big yard: tricycles, balls, hopscotch, running, play houses, Lego centers    Small yard: slides, climbing structures, sand box, dramatic play, play tunnels, music & movement, school bus structure, obstacle course, gardening.
11:10 – 11:25 am Clean-up/Potty/Diapering/Hand washing
11:25 – 11:40 am 2nd Circle Time (Activities vary)
Story Time: flannel board, hand puppets, musical instruments, book area
11:40 – 12:15 pm Wash-up and lunch
12:15 – 12:30 pm Half day pick-up 
12:30 – 12:45 pm Potty/Diapering/Hand washing
12:45 – 3:00 pm Nap Time – each child shall bring their own blanket and small stuffed animal
3:00 – 3:15 pm Potty/Diapering/Hand washing

 

3:15 – 3:30 pm Snack (school provided – see snack calendar)

All children- combined

3:30 – 6:00 pm Afternoon Day Care (children combined for any of these activities: art, manipulatives, games,  balls, climbing rock, tricycles, dramatic play, etc. until parents pick-up)

A Christ-Centered Accredited Preschool

• All teachers have an Associate degree or Bachelors, which exceeds state standards • Student to teacher ratios are lower than state requirements for more individual attention • Chapel services are held twice a week • A weekly comprehensive music program is provided • Our curriculum enriches age-appropriate development and instills a love for Christ and learning • Key card access for added security • Potty training for 2 year olds
