While each classroom has listed curriculum goals, the philosophy of our program is that each child is unique and will therefore acquire the foundations for learning at his/her own pace. We create the environment/activities, the children will remain challenged and engaged, and WHEN they are developmentally ready to absorb/apply the learning skills, they will.

Learning Goals

Faith Development

  • Worship God by attending chapel twice a week
  • Embrace God’s talents given to each of us
  • Learn about Jesus from birth to death
  • Learn how to Be a disciple for Jesus
  • Practice behavior which demonstrates knowledge of The Fruit of the Spirit and Bee- Attitudes
  • Learn monthly simple  prayers and Bible verses
  • Discuss, model and reinforce Christian values
  • Learn Christian songs and hymns
  • Learn that the Bible is God’s true word

Social/Emotional Development

  • Develop a sense of belonging, autonomy and positive self-image through play
  • Promote leadership, role modeling and sharing
  • How to work individually and in group settings
  • Explore, discover and create in a nurturing environment
  • Learn to listen and follow one/two step directions
  • Move from parallel play to cooperative play
  • Respect other’s feelings, personal space and belongings

Language & Literacy Development

  • Enhance vocabulary through felt stories, listening to stories, songs rhymes and finger play
  • Learn to communicate clearly by using “words” with adults and peers
  • Speak in complete sentences using age-appropriate language and grammar
  • Develop appreciation for books and interpreting stories through pictures
  • Recognition of the alphabet: upper case letters
  • Learn the days of the week, months, colors, shapes and five pre-writing strokes

Emerging Fine Motor Skills

  • Define the dominant hand
  • Develop skills such as cutting, gluing, tracing, coloring, painting, beading and stringing
  • Develop writing by using letter-like marks to represent and communicate ideas
  • Practice eye-hand coordination and visual discrimination with different manipulatives: puzzles, blocks, etc.

Math Development

  • Learn about number sense: the relationship between numbers and quantities
  • Able to sort and classify objects into given categories
  • Begin to recognize a simple repeating pattern
  • Identify number of objects by using one-to-one correspondence
  • Recognize simple two-dimensional shapes

Social Studies & Science Development

  • Learn about different cultures
  • Explore Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science
  • Learn the meaning of holidays
  • Learn basic geographical concepts
  • Identify models of good citizenship: Jesus, Abraham Lincoln, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Drama/Music & Movement

  • Learn songs and hymns and preform at the Day School Sunday, Christmas Program & Spring Sing
  • Explore musical instruments
  • Develop ability to balance, throw/catch, jump, run, climb, ride scooters and tricycles

 

Schedule

6:30 – 8:00 am Opening Class – Teacher directed activity, 2 learning centers, staggered arrivals
8:00 – 9:00 am Outside Play – free choice table toys, bikes, balls, climbers, and books
9:00 – 9:15 am Gathering song/prayer, divide into classrooms Potty/Hand washing

*Chapel – held in Sanctuary M/Thur @ 9:15

9:15 – 9:30 am Snack (parent provided)

*Chapel (snack is served after chapel on M&TH)

9:30 – 9:45 am 1st Circle Time: Calendar (children are introduced to numbers, letters, colors, shapes, days of the week, months of the year, weather chart)
Bible Time (on T,W,F): Story from “One in Christ” supplemental stories from the Bible, songs, prayer and prayer requests
9:45 – 10:30 am Learning Center Time – Art, Writing, Science, Dramatic Play, Manipulatives, Books
10:30 – 11:15 am Outside Play – Movement & Games
11:15 – 11:30 am Restroom/Hand washing
11:45 – 12:00 pm 2nd Circle Time (Activities vary)
Read a book, felt storyboard, songs, movement and small group activities
12:00 – 12:45 pm Lunch/Outdoor free play (yard will vary)
* Bike Trail: tricycles, balls, climbing structure, hopscotch, manipulatives
* Big Yard: climbing structure, slides, sandbox, sand toys, gardening
* Little Yard: Sandbox, sand toys, play tunnels, playhouse
12:30 pm ** Half day pick-up
12:45 – 1:00 pm Clean-up/Restroom/Hand washing
1:00 – 3:00 pm Nap time (each child shall bring their own crib sheet/blanket)
3:00 – 3:15 pm Restroom/Hand washing
3:15 – 3:30 pm Snack (school provided – see snack calendar)
3:30 – 6:00 pm Afternoon Day Care (children combined in the following: art, story time, manipulatives, bikes, balls, books, games) staggered pick up
 *Chapel Chapel held in the Sanctuary with the Pastor two mornings a week with the whole school. (Monday & Thursday at 9:15am)

A Christ-Centered Accredited Preschool

• All teachers have an Associate degree or Bachelors, which exceeds state standards • Student to teacher ratios are lower than state requirements for more individual attention • Chapel services are held twice a week • A weekly comprehensive music program is provided • Our curriculum enriches age-appropriate development and instills a love for Christ and learning • Key card access for added security • Potty training for 2 year olds
